Eight El Dorado High School students were recognized for successfully completing the 2026 Youth Leadership Butler program during a banquet held Nov. 2, 2026.

The program, offered through Butler Community College, brings together high school students from across Butler County to develop leadership skills, build relationships and gain a deeper understanding of their communities.

EHS students who completed the program were Avangelina Adams, Landon Bright, Eleanor Lane, Jewelsuna Murphy, De'sha Phillip, Jackson Remsberg, Sydney Terrones and Gage Walden.

Throughout the program, students had opportunities to connect with community leaders, collaborate with peers from other schools and develop skills that will help them become effective leaders in their schools and communities.

The Youth Leadership Butler Class of 2026 worked together on a countywide service project focused on promoting literacy and providing books to local children. Students organized a book drive to collect donations and created book boxes to make reading materials available to youth throughout Butler County.

EHS student Gage Walden said the experience taught him the importance of collaboration and communication when working alongside other leaders.

"I learned that as a leader in a room with leaders, you have to engage in conversations and work with others to form an idea and agenda for each other's benefit," Walden said.

Through hands-on learning and community service, students put their leadership skills into action while making a positive impact on their communities.

"To those who do wish to participate in this organization, I would highly encourage you as Youth Leadership Butler provides an immense opportunity to grow your leadership skills, build bonds with new faces, and meet speakers across the county!" Walden said.

Congratulations to these students on their accomplishments and their commitment to becoming leaders who make a difference. Their willingness to learn, collaborate and serve others is a wonderful example of what it means to be #PartOfThePride!
