El Dorado High School eSports competed Friday, September 18, at the Kansas State Fair eSports Tournament, sending two squads to the eight-team invitational for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU).

Our No. 1 squad — William Collette, James Odle, Jostin Ware, Samuel Schafer, and Sawyer White — opened with a 2–0 win over Elk Valley HS before falling 0–2 to Moscow HS in a close match. In the consolation bracket, they battled Derby HS before dropping a tight 1–2 match.

Our No. 2 squad — Cayetano Triana, Sophie Collette, Kevin Ohan, William Munger, and Jacksen Wells — fell 0–2 to Hugoton HS in the opening round, then lost 0–2 to Derby HS in the consolation bracket.

We're proud of the effort both squads put forward against strong competition and of the way our students represented El Dorado High School at the state fair!

The SSBU team will now take a short break before KSHSAA competition begins in November. In the meantime, our eSports teams are actively competing in the KSSE league in Pokémon and Fortnite. Look for more updates later next week!
