Two 2026 Friend of Education awards were awarded at the USD 490 Board of Education meeting on Jan. 12, 2026. Red Devils received one for in the School Volunteer category and Steps For Success received one for Community Leadership.
The Red Devils generously support our schools by cooking hotdogs and hamburgers at many school events throughout the year. Their dedication, time, and generosity help bring our community together and makes each event a success. Rain, sleet, wind, cold or blistering hot, these gentlemen have manned the grills to serve tens of thousands of hotdogs and hamburgers in our community.
Steps For Success, led by Demo Sales and Hogoboom Trucking, was a long-standing community organization dedicated to providing shoes to students in need. Demo Sales and Hogoboom Trucking were at the center of this organization, helping to organize, promote, sponsor, and cook at the infamous Nut Fry each year. Their dedication meant students from across the county had the essentials to walk confidently into our schools each day.
