EHS JAGK students entering the main gate at Sedgwick County Zoo

By: Brett Gunderson

On April 10, 2025, the EHS JAGK program had the opportunity to receive some excellent job education and volunteer hours through the Sedgwick County Zoo!

We spent the morning working on a project that involved us painting all the fence and corral that is located in the barn and farm area of the Zoo. Our students did a tremendous job and worked very hard. It was awesome to see how much pride they took in doing a great job and how thankful the Zoo was for our kids.

We then were able to enjoy the Zoo for a bit and look at the exhibits.

We finished our day by learning about all the jobs, internships, and other ways to get involved with the Zoo. Education Specialist, Erin Cernik, did a great job of explaining what jobs were available and how the students could pursue an opportunity if they had interest. It was an awesome experience and our students were an amazing representation of El Dorado High School!
