Hadley Williams first place art winner

Grandview fifth grade student Hadley Williams won first place in the elementary level at the Blick YAM State Art Competition.

Out of all the amazing submissions, only six elementary pieces were chosen as finalists. Hadley's artwork stood out as a true masterpiece, showcasing her exceptional creativity, skill, and unique perspective and earning her a first-place rating. This incredible achievement is a testament to Hadley's hard work, dedication, and passion for the arts.

“She is the first USD 490 student to place since they have been doing this exhibit and contest,” Elementary Art Teacher Ira Bane said. “I am so excited for her!”

Hadley, accompanied by her proud family and esteemed art teacher, Mr. Bane, attended the recognition ceremony at the Shawnee County Topeka Public Library in Topeka, Kansas on Mar. 23, 2024. Mr. Bane also received a gift certificate and over $200 in art supply prizes for his classrooms.
