Skelly second through fifth grade students participated in the Panther Pride Poetry Cafe on Mar. 1.

Students selected a poem or wrote one of their own to read aloud in front of their classmates and parents in a cafe-themed classroom. They practiced making eye contact with the audience and putting voice into their poems. Two Skelly staff members listened to the poems and provided written feedback on their performance for their teachers to share with them later.

This project helps with reading fluency, boosts student confidence, and allows them to practice public speaking skills. While their classmates are reciting their poems, students in the audience work on listening skills and audience etiquette.
