USD 490 Support Services Facility

The current USD 490 Support Services facility is in need of intensive updating to meet district needs. The cost to repair the aged facility and comply with current building codes is not feasible when compared to the cost of building a new facility.

The district is working with Gravity::Works for some design options that are being reviewed by USD 490 support services staff so they can provide feedback on the functionality of the proposals.

The plan is to use Capital Outlay funds to finance the project. Money in this district fund can only be spent to acquire or improve school property and equipment. The new facility is expected to be located on the existing site and the current support services facility will remain operational throughout the project.

Expected features of new facility

  • Feasible space to perform bus maintenance

  • Adequate storage for equipment and supplies

  • An enhanced public reception area

  • Adequate space for staff and driver trainings

  • Improved parking and vehicle circulation through the parking lots

The process

  • Planning (This is where we currently are.)

  • Finalize options and plan

  • Obtain permits and project bids

  • Construction of the new facility
